I highly recommend visiting the

National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, DC

Teacher Notes

I always started by teaching my students about

the Native Americans who

lived in the area that the school was located.

The students used to enjoy making Native American villages by constructing totems, crafts, doing sand paintings, and homes (teepees, hogans, longhouses, wigwams, wickiups, chickees, etc.).
