Teacher Notes
To teach Current Events I had my class put on their own news show. I had co-anchors and feature correspondents for International, National, State and Local News. I also had a Sports Reporter, Fashion Editor,
Television and Movie Editor, etc.

The children loved putting on the news and even performed it for the faculty during their lunch period.

The children enjoyed a news producer who came to speak to them and explained the background of a news show.

The students literally pushed me aside and they took over the show.  The Day I Stepped Aside

This activity could also be done for anything you are studying in class.  For example: we once did one on the American Revolution.   This was similar to the great television show "You Are There" that I enjoyed in my youth. You can also have students put together a newspaper of the era that they are studying.
